Developing an Inclusive Workforce for LGBT+ Parents and Carers

Overview:
Join Matt Taylor-Roberts, Founder and CEO of Proud 2 b Parents, for a powerful session exploring how workplaces can better support LGBT+ parents and carers. Drawing on his lived experience as an adoptive parent, long-term foster carer, and national advocate, Matt will shine a light on the unique challenges LGBT+ parents and carers face in professional settings.

This session explores how past and present trauma can shape parenting journeys, and how workplace environments — when inclusive and affirming — can make a significant difference in both employee wellbeing and organisational success. With practical insights and real-life examples, Matt will provide the tools needed to drive meaningful change.

In this session, Matt will:

  • Explore how trauma and discrimination can impact LGBT+ parents and carers in the workplace.

  • Share inclusive strategies that support the recruitment, retention, and wellbeing of LGBT+ employees with parenting or caring responsibilities.

  • Outline how to build and support effective LGBT+ Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).

  • Discuss the importance of equitable benefits that reflect all family structures.

  • Highlight the value of inclusive mental health and wellbeing support.

  • Share how to deliver impactful inclusivity training across all levels of an organisation.

  • Encourage the celebration of LGBT+ visibility days and events to foster belonging.

  • Provide ideas for creating open, psychologically safe spaces for dialogue and support.

Session Includes:

  • Real-world insight from Matt’s personal and professional experience.

  • A supportive, informal space with opportunities for Q&A and discussion.

  • Practical tools to embed inclusive practices across your organisation.
