Meet the Proud 2 b Parents Trustees.
Catherine Treagus-Mullan (Chair of Trustees)
Catherine first joined the board in 2017 and subsequently returned in 2021 to take up the role of Chair and Safeguarding lead. Catherine has 8-year-old twins with her wife and has been accessing Proud 2 b Parents services since her children were 8 weeks old. Outside of Proud 2 b Parents Catherine is a Chartered Water & Environment Manager so don’t get her started talking about water or drains unless you need to catch up on your sleep! She brings her extensive project management and leadership expertise to the board to helping drive our strategic plan forward.
Jack
Jack is a finance professional with almost a decade of experience working in high-growth startups across the technology and AI sector. He brings experience in financial strategy and scaling organisations, and is passionate about building communities and supporting initiatives that create meaningful, lasting impact.
He joined Proud 2 b Parents because of his belief that every family deserves to feel supported, represented, and connected. He is particularly inspired by the organisation’s work in bringing people together and creating safe, inclusive spaces for LGBT+ parents, carers, and their children.
Outside of his professional work, Jack enjoys planning his next holiday with his partner Daniel and is a self-confessed nerd with a passion for gaming and technology.
Beth
Beth is a first‑time LGBTQ+ parent who, together with her wife, welcomed their son in October 2025. Becoming a parent has further strengthened Beth’s commitment to ensuring that LGBTQ+ families feel visible, supported and included from the very beginning of their parenting journeys.
Beth works across the voluntary, community and youth sectors, bringing extensive experience in leadership, partnership working and community development. She is Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive at Bolton CVS, supporting voluntary and community organisations to strengthen their impact, governance and sustainability. Alongside this role, Beth works with StreetGames UK as a Place Lead and Coordinator of the Pride Activity Network, championing inclusive and safe spaces for LGBTQ+ young people through movement and physical activity.
Gaynor
Gaynor Fanning has been an attendee and board member of Proud 2 b Parents for a number of years. Her birth son has attended the meet ups since a young age and now as a teenager attends Proud 2 b Me Youth Group events. She works for a local authority as a senior Social Worker and has done for 36 years. Her specialism is within the Adoption Support service. Also, she sits as a member on the Adoption panel for a RAA.
Samuel
Samuel Clarke has been a Proud 2 b Parents board member for two years. Samuel is parent to two adopted sons, the first of whom he adopted as a single adopter.
Samuel currently works for Manchester City Council in the Public Health department and has previously worked in the charity sector, with his focus being on fundraising and events management.
Jamie
Jamie is a trans masc, non-binary step-parent to two children. He became a parent when he met his wife in 2021, she had the kids from her previous same-sex marriage. He came to parenting reluctantly but quickly learned that preparation and support made all the difference, and joined Proud 2 b Parents to support us in helping others feel confident and connected. Jamie is a Chartered Financial Planner and runs True Self Wealth. He also leads the team at Trans Support Hub, which supports people exploring gender identity. Jamie loves swimming, trips away, and watching Bob’s Burgers with his family.
Mark
Mark Owen-Long joined the board in 2024 and brings both professional expertise and lived experience to his role. He and his husband, Stuart, adopted two children in 2010, giving him first-hand insight into the rewards and challenges faced by adoptive families and a strong alignment with the ethos of Proud 2 Be Parents. As CEO of Training and Education at Standguide Ltd, he has worked in welfare-to-work services since 1999, delivering programmes across the UK in partnership with government, the NHS, and Ofsted, and contributes strong leadership, governance, and a commitment to ensuring adoptive parents feel supported and empowered.
