Join us for a fun-filled, action-packed Midweek Meet-Up at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester, with a special LGBT+ History theme woven through our day of discovery.
What’s Planned?
10:30am – Arrival & Welcome
We’ll meet at the museum from 10:30am, with a warm welcome to families and time to get settled before our first activity.
10:45am – The Revolution Manchester Show
We’ll kick off the day with an exciting live show delivered by the museum’s Explainer team.
This action-packed, interactive show uses mini-experiments to tell the story of how science met industry right here in Manchester — shaping our city, our communities, and the world we live in today.
Exploring the Experiment Gallery
After the show, we’ll head to the Experiment Gallery on the 1st floor of the main building. This space is packed with hands-on, interactive experiments, perfect for curious minds and families to explore together.
Lunch Break
Please bring a packed lunch, as we’ll pause to eat together. There is also a café on this floor if you’d prefer to grab something on the day.
12:30pm – Power Hall Live Demonstration: Pender
We’ll finish the day with a live demonstration in the Power Hall featuring Pender, a charming little locomotive.
You’ll see it in action and learn how it helped people in Manchester take day trips and seaside visits — often for the very first time. Expect the sights, sounds, and even smells of the engine-powered ideas and industry that began here and went on to change the world.
