At Proud 2 b Parents, we know that starting a family should be a joyful and supported journey — but for many LGBT+ people, barriers in healthcare and unequal access to fertility treatment make this far from reality. The Fertility Justice Campaign is our call for change: to ensure every LGBTQIA+ parent, carer, and child is treated with dignity, fairness, and equality. Together with our campaign partners, we are demanding action so that all families have the same opportunities to grow and thrive.

Why We’re Campaigning

At Proud 2 b Parents, we believe our community deserves to be treated as equals — in marriage, on the path to parenthood, and in everyday family life.

Yet across society, support for LGBT+ families remains inconsistent, with the greatest disparities seen in healthcare.

We are determined to achieve true equity so that our families are treated no differently than our heterosexual counterparts. To make this happen, policies must be amended, laws must be changed, and perceptions must shift — so our families are recognised as part of the everyday.

The Urgent Need for Change

Two years ago, the Women’s Health Strategy confirmed that same-sex couples would be given equal access to fertility funding. But implementation has yet to happen.

Despite countless meetings in Parliament, the promises made to our community remain unfulfilled. That is why we — alongside our partners — have come together to demand Fertility Justice.

What We Are Campaigning For

We are calling for:

  • ✅ Equal and equitable access to NHS fertility funding for all LGBTQIA+ people (including embryo creation and fertility preservation)

  • ✅ Data collection on LGBTQIA+ family pathways and outcomes

  • ✅ Access to purchase sperm for home insemination arrangements

  • ✅ Stronger legal protections for LGBTQIA+ family pathways, including informal arrangements

  • ✅ Workplace protections for birthing and non-birthing parents against discrimination
