Shakara Shabbir

After graduating with LLB Law, Shakara has spent her working life in Banking, she brings a wealth of business experience and skills to the service. She is an LGBT ally in her workplace, helping to ensure her employer offers LGBT employees a respectful environment. Shakara’s language skills include Punjabi and British Sign Language. Shakara has been involved in the Proud 2 b parents since her son was born and loves that the service is inclusive. It’s a safe environment where she and her family do not feel the need to have to ‘come out’, because for a change they are not the minority group. Shakara became a Trustee because she wants to raise awareness and the profile of the great service P2bP’s provides.Shakara’s passions are travelling and baking, but most of the time you will find her trying to keep up with her very energetic boy!

Ella Fontaine
Ella has been attending proud 2 b parents with her family since the birth of their son in 2016. She has found the meet ups and social media groups a great source of support. She is delighted to join the board and hopes to support and see its excellent work be continued. Ella is a singing & piano teacher, freelance musician and theatre School director, and founding member & music director of Stretford Youth Choir. She has worked in education and the music industry for fifteen years and hopes she might have picked up one or two skills along the way that might benefit proud 2 b parents. She also studied Speech & Language therapy modules at theUniversity of Manchester and works and volunteers in voice rehabilitation.

Charlotte Andrew

Charlotte joined the board in 2019 due to wanting to support the growth of Proud 2 b Parents. She is currently an engagement manager at Three Circles Fostering,  where she works specifically to ensure children are at the center of operations. Charlotte and her partner have a son and they all enjoy the various activities Proud 2 b Parents has to offer. Charlottes interests include youth work, climbing and playing the guitar.

Myrtle Finley
Myrtle joined the board in 2018, after attending a Parents 2 b meet up with her wife (who was pregnant with their first child) in April the year before. Since then they have regularly attended the mid week and monthly meet ups and have experienced first hand the benefits accessing the service provides to families like theirs.
Myrtle has 14 years experience of working and volunteering in the youth and community sector across Manchester, the North West and nationally. Most of this time has included delivering specific provision for LGBT young people across Greater Manchester. Myrtle is currently on maternity leave with their second child and hopes to support P2bP's youth work, publicity, promotion and fundraising efforts.

Abbey Clephane - Wilson 

Abbey is the Chair of the board of Directors. She has previously worked as Adoption Social Worker , but now works as a Safeguarding Advisor for the Diocese of Manchester. She provides a considerable amount of experience and knowledge to the service. Abbey and her partner have attended Proud 2 b Parents for a number of years.

Debbie Baxter-Heyes

Debbie is our Proud 2 b Parents Treasurer. She is also a Ward Manager for a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit. She brings a lot of experience and practically support around attachment development.  Debbie and her partner also attend Proud 2 b Parents regularly with their little one's.

Gaynor Fanning 

Hello, my name is Gaynor.  I have attended P2B Parents for a number of years, my son now accesses the over 8s youth group. I worked within social care since 1985, within various Local authority settings.   My current role as a Senior Adoption Support Social Worker &  as a member on Adoption Panel within Adoption Counts. My interests include dancing & I attend a local adult tap & ballet group for women as well as attending  regular meet ups with the South M'cr French Bull dog group.

Matt Taylor-Roberts

Matt is the Proud 2 b Parents Service Coordinator and board Secretary. He also works full time for Manchester City Council as an Outreach Worker for Sure Start Children Centre. In Matts spare time hee also works for Adoption Counts as an independent panel member. Matt and his partner Shaun Adopted their gorgeous son in November 2017, and have been exhausted ever since!!
