Proud 2 b Parents has been running as a monthly drop-in session for many years under the umbrella of Sure Start; a government initiative for families with children under 5.
Matt Taylor-Roberts set up the drop-in sessions when he first started working for Sure Start, when he found that there was no all inclusive service for LGBT parents and their children in Manchester. The drops-ins quickly became popular, and because of this the activities grew and so did the needs of the service.
Matt completed his Masters; Young People, Community Education and Development, when he analysed the LGBT parent community. From then on he has spent much of his time developing Proud 2 b Parents into a non profit Community Interest Company which has become a recognised organisation that delivers some of the key findings in his research. The service offers various activities including, training, information and support to the LGBT parent community and partnership agencies.
Proud 2 b Parents are pleased to announce that after some successful funding bids in 2014, they are now delivering aspects of this work, with a view to development over the coming months and years. This website provides information of the various activities and events that are planned with Proud 2 b Parents or in the development stage.
Proud 2 b Parents will always welcome new families and look forward to seeing you all at their sessions soon.
